Why here

The wilderness begins at the door

What it stands on, how the days are arranged, and a family that has been here since 1973.

Winter landscape in Muonio, Finnish Lapland

The land

One person per square kilometre

Muonio has about 2 340 residents across 2 040 square kilometres. The world’s purest air is measured at the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s Sammaltunturi station in Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park. Pallastunturi is one of Finland’s 27 national landscapes, named in 1992.

The pace

Small groups, starting here

Experiences begin at Arcora itself, not at a meeting point in a resort village. Each one is arranged privately or in a small group and paced to the season rather than the clock — away from crowds and fixed-group tourism. Routes follow the snow, the light and the animals rather than a fixed programme.

The people

A family business since 1973

A family business that has welcomed guests to this part of Lapland since 1973, now in its third generation. More than fifty years of Arctic hospitality shape how Arcora receives its guests.
